Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using ByeMetadata.com ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ByeMetadata.com, operated by ByeMetadata ("we," "our," or "us"). By using our Service, you agree to these Terms in full.

Description of Service

ByeMetadata.com provides a free online tool for removing metadata from various file types, including:

  • Image files (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, HEIC) - removes EXIF data, GPS coordinates, camera information, etc.
  • PDF documents - removes author information, creation dates, document properties, etc.
  • Video files (MP4, MOV, AVI, etc.) - removes metadata embedded in video files
  • Audio files (MP3, WAV, etc.) - removes metadata tags and embedded information

The Service processes files to remove hidden metadata while preserving the original file content and quality. Processing may occur client-side (in your browser) or server-side, depending on the file type and processing requirements.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Upload files containing malicious code, viruses, or malware
  • Use the Service to process files for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service
  • Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to abuse or overload the Service
  • Upload files that infringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • Upload files containing illegal, harmful, or offensive content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service

We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or remove content at our sole discretion if we determine that use of the Service violates these Terms.

No Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • All metadata will be completely removed from every file type
  • The results will meet your specific requirements
  • Files will be processed within a specific timeframe
  • The Service is free from viruses or other harmful components

We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service. Some file formats may contain metadata that cannot be fully removed due to technical limitations of the file format itself.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BYEMETADATA, ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
  • Damages resulting from files processed through the Service
  • Any errors or omissions in the Service

Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service (which is $0, as the Service is free).

You are solely responsible for:

  • Backing up your files before processing
  • Verifying that metadata has been removed to your satisfaction
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws when using processed files
  • Any consequences resulting from the use of processed files

File Processing Disclaimer

While we strive to remove all metadata from your files, you acknowledge that:

  • Some file formats may have technical limitations that prevent complete metadata removal
  • Certain metadata may be embedded in ways that cannot be detected or removed
  • File corruption or processing errors may occur in rare cases
  • We cannot guarantee 100% removal of all metadata from all file types

We strongly recommend backing up your original files before processing. We are not responsible for any loss of data or file corruption that may occur during processing.

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by ByeMetadata and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain all rights to files you upload. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your files solely for the purpose of removing metadata. We do not claim ownership of your files.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written permission.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

Service Modifications

We reserve the right to:

  • Change file size limits or processing capabilities
  • Add or remove supported file types
  • Implement usage limits or restrictions
  • Update or change the Service's features and functionality

We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which ByeMetadata operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use the Service after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using the Service.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service and supersede and replace any prior agreements.
